International wedding has multiplied drastically in south-westward peninsula in recent years, and by 2005, 13.6 per cent of marriages engaged a foreign spouse. The intention of this study is twofold: to explore the sociology economic process and supply of foreign spouses in the marriage activity in South Korea, and to examine how friendly positions of abroad wives differ by their vicinity in the marriage mart as determined by their nationality and ethnicity. Data show that the requirement for external spouses is particularly strong among rural never-married and urbanized single peninsula men.
